The DX8401 is a dedicated laboratory instrument for evaluating the reaction-to-fire performance of horizontal flooring materials that are ignited by a small flame and exposed to an inclined radiant heat field. It is used by flooring manufacturers, testing laboratories and third-party certification bodies to measure flame spread and heat response of complete flooring assemblies under controlled laboratory conditions.
Every critical parameter, from radiant flux distribution at nine points of the panel to duct velocity, is verified against the tolerances defined in these standards, so test reports can be submitted to customers and regulators with confidence.
The apparatus is suitable for testing virtually all horizontal flooring materials, including:
Because the complete flooring assembly is tested, any change of backing material, underlay or substrate is reflected in the result. This helps manufacturers compare formulations, validate incoming materials and support declaration of performance documentation.
