Test Method

The 16 CFR 1632 test adopts the smoldering ignition test method, simulating the scenario where a smoldering source falls or is placed on a mattress and smolders.

Sample Preparation

• 6 sets of finished or prototype samples are normally required
• If the mattress contains chemical flame retardants, samples must be aged according to AATCC 124-82 with 10 wash and dry cycles to simulate post-use conditions (except disposable mattresses)
