Determining the heat transmission through materials or material assemblies used in protective clothing. Materials may then be ranked by comparing heat transfer indices, which provide an indication of the relative heat transmission under the specified test conditions. The heat transfer index should not be taken as a measure of the protection time given by the tested materials under actual use conditions.

1. Sample size
The sample size is 230 mm×80 mm, and the sampling distance should be more than 50 mm from the edge of the sample cloth. If the product is multilayered, the multilayer sample should be considered as a whole test.
2. Number of samples
On the washed samples, take 3 sets of samples.
3. Temperature and humidity adjustment program
Place the sample in an environment with a temperature of (20±2)°C and a relative humidity of (65±5)%, adjust the temperature and humidity for 24 hours, and perform the test within 3 minutes after the temperature and humidity adjustment.
